The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is an initiative delivered by the Australian Government. A USI is a reference number that creates a secure, consolidated, online record of a student’s training and qualifications attained in Australia. Since commencement in January 2015, all students undertaking nationally recognised vocational education and training (VET) are required to register for a USI.
USI approached Motiv Brand Design to redesign their public facing brand and associated marketing collateral as the organisation wanted a brand that not only reflected their current remit in VET education but was flexible enough to allow for expansion into other areas potentially spanning the journey from primary education through to post-graduate studies.
We created a bold, contemporary identity based on a continuous line representing the student pathway – each of the three letters in the USI logo was formed using this linework and an individual colour.
The linework was also used to create a flexible thematic that has been implemented across signage and interior thematics, online applications, publications and animated graphics providing the strong brand recognition which had previously been lacking.
